Her host is a body made out of clay, wood, stone, etc. It is a puppet or doll that she resides inside. 

They are considerably fragile, easy to crack but also easy to repair when broken. 

It is possible to kill Etani while she is in a host by giving her a mortal wound that would kill a human instantly or very quickly.

Should the mortal wound not be instant, if she is unbound or free to move she can shed her host.

Non-lethal wounds will transfer from her host to her true form.Mortal wounds will not transfer.

Her host is held together by a number of ways:

1. A small crystal that must be kept in contact with her skin at all times. This crystal is connected to her soul and shatters when she dies.

2. She must leave her host in water to keep it from cracking should she not currently be residing it in.

3. She is residing in it, and thus her energy (consumed souls) keeps it active.

To shed her host, she simply has to remove the crystal from contact with her skin and the host will crack and break, this is a very painful process.

The crystal is connected to her soul, and as such it makes her susceptible to influence if someone removes the crystal by piercing their own flesh on it.

The crystal does not give control over her, if she desires to do something that the one holding the crystal desires, she will feel compelled to do it.

If she does not want to do that thing, she will feel a need to do it but can resist easily.
